ASHURST AND THE UAE UNIVERSITY COLLEGE OF LAW

SIGN A MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING

AL AIN, UAE— Ashurst and the Faculty of Law at United Arab Emirates University signed an agreement on 4 May 2010 to create an internship program to provide students at the College of Law with the necessary legal skills to practice law.  

Students participating in the internship program will work under the guidance of experienced lawyers in the Abu Dhabi office of Ashurst on a range of projects that will provide the students with hands-on experience intended to hone their legal skills and enhance their understanding of the practice of law.  

Professor Jassim Ali Al Shamsi, Dean of the Faculty of Law, emphasized the importance of providing good training opportunities for students of the Faculty of Law to prepare them for the legal job market and to contribute to creating a generation of highly qualified Emirati legal professionals.  

David Wadham, managing partner, Ashurst Abu Dhabi, commented, "We appreciate this opportunity to partner with the UAEU College of Law and to contribute to the professional development of Emirati law students".

Ashurst and the Faculty of Law hope to expand the internship program to give students from the Faculty of Law the opportunity to participate in internships at the firm’s headquarters in London.
