On Tuesday, November 1st, 2016, the College of Law organized the "1st Student Research Conference for Law Students.” This provided an opportunity for students at the College to present their research papers, in the presence of Prof. Fatiha Guarari, Deputy Dean of College of Law, and the College’s professors and other students.

The Conference aimed to develop students’ research and presentation skills, and the sessions were moderated by the College’s female students. These students had already presented their own research papers in various competitions, including the Maktoum Bin Mohammed Al Maktoum Legal Scientific Research Competition, and the Scientific Research Competition, also at the College of Law, as well as in presentations in the College’s Legal Research and Writing course.

Prof. Fatiha Guarari said in the Conference’s opening speech that "The College of Law has made great strides over the past five years, in terms of learning based on research, and the intensification of extra-curricular activities; such as mock trials held in the University and also at other local and international conferences". She added that "the College has developed students with the legal knowledge and skills necessary to meet the needs of the labor market ".

Najat Al Ameri of the Supreme Legislation Committee in Dubai, and Khawla Atiyyat, a Lawyer at the White & Case Company, and one of the graduates of the College, gave presentations about their educational experiences at the College of Law, and how that prepared them in their later research and work.

The first session of the Conference focused on the Rights of the Child, in an international context and also within the UAE, while the second session dealt with three research papers provided by the College’s female students, on the subject of legal regulation of one-person companies with limited liability.

The female students who participated in the Conference and gave the best presentation were honored.
